The Firewise USA® program provides a framework to help us get organized and take simple, effective steps to help us reduce the risk of destruction from wildfire in our community.
This program is part of the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA).
Besides helping to reduce the risk of fires in our neighborhood, as a member of the Firewise USA® program, the WPOA has access to education materials, training, discounts, and annual grants that can be used toward achieving our annual action plan.
What is that action plan, you say?
Glad you asked.
- For 2025, our goals are to have 10% of our homes get a Wildfire Ready Neighbors home assessment.
- Participate in wildfire preparedness month “Be Ember Aware” – May 2025
- Encourage mulching with non-flammable materials and removing flammable materials near homes before July 4.
- Promote the blue reflective address markers to help the Lacey Fire District be able to see your home address quickly.
